Prohibition: Something To Sing About
The Prohibition debate raged throughout the United States
during the late nineteenth century, reaching a heightened tone in
the early twentieth century as the battle stood to be won or lost.
Much propaganda was formed by both sides in an attempt to win
converts; in this case, a widely-distributed, Cincinnati-printed
songbook from 1912 implored sympathetic, like-minded
individuals to lend their voice to the debate - literally. (author's collection)
